About

AgileX was founded in 2016 by Wei Jidong, employee No.1 and co-founder of DJI's RoboMaster, officially registered in June 2017, headquartered in Songshan Lake, Dongguan, and incubated by Professor Li Zexiang of HKUST and the XBOTPARK robotics base. The company is a world-leading mobile robot chassis manufacturer, with 11 chassis models including SCOUT, HUNTER, BUNKER, TRACER, RANGER, T-REX, and LIMO covering four series: differential, tracked, four-wheel four-steer, and Ackermann. Since 2024 it has built out embodied AI, releasing the PiPER six-axis robotic arm (from RMB 14,999) and the NERO seven-axis anthropomorphic arm, and building the AgileX XBOTPARK data collection base (40 devices producing 6,000 data entries daily, with 200,000 structured interaction entries accumulated). It has served 1,000+ enterprise customers and 50+ top global universities across 50+ countries, including Alibaba, Huawei, AgiBot, DeepMind, and Honda; it has sustained 300% compound growth since 2019, with overseas revenue at about 30%. It has open-sourced 25 data packages and 5,000+ task datasets used by 500+ university research teams, and holds 69 patents.

Technical Approach

A standardized chassis strategy that converges a customization market onto standard products, with four mainstream chassis types fully covering VLA/ROS2 research needs. It formally entered the embodied AI track in early 2024, transforming from hardware manufacturer into a hardware + data + algorithms platform company: robotic arms fill the manipulation capability gap; the data collection base builds data capability with a three-level collect-validate-augment quality control (data pass rate raised from 20% to 90%); and the open-source ecosystem builds global research community influence.

Commercialization(5)

  • Global coverage of 50+ countries, 1,000+ enterprise customers, 50+ top global universities, and 1,000+ application scenarios; overseas revenue about 30%
  • 300% compound growth since 2019; its smart mower product ranks No.1 in its overseas category
  • Core customers include Alibaba, Huawei, AgiBot, DeepMind, Honda, China Construction Third Engineering Bureau, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Carnegie Mellon University, New York University, etc.
  • The data collection base produces 6,000 entries daily (40 devices), with 200,000 structured interaction entries and 1,300 hours of continuous motion data accumulated
  • Application fields: low-speed unmanned logistics, agricultural picking, smart factories, security patrol, disinfection and epidemic prevention, geographic surveying, research education, tunnel and culvert inspection, etc.

Position & Strengths(5)

  • A world-leading mobile robot chassis manufacturer, converging the customization market onto standardized chassis
  • The DJI-linked team's product definition capability is the core competitiveness
  • Upgraded from mobile chassis supplier to an embodied AI system solution provider integrating mobility, perception, decision-making, and manipulation
  • The NERO seven-axis anthropomorphic arm completes the humanoid upper-limb layout, while PiPER builds a research arm ecosystem
  • Open-source ecosystem with deep ROS2 support, building global research community influence; 69 patents held
